Wow, that was easy. Two clicks and I'm blogging again.
So last night some guys from The Q wanted to have a poker night. So I said, "What time should I come over to your apartment, JJ?" He says, "Well, we're supposed to close the restaurant at ten, but you know how we always close early, so I think I'll be home by ten. You can come over then." So it's a little after ten, and I head over, thinking I'll be fasionably late and not be the first one there. Not only am I the first one there, but they stayed open at Quizno's until a little after ten.
I was standing outside of JJ's apartment when he called me, staying they were closing up and he was on his way. I played it cool, as though I was still at home, and would come over momentarily. He totally bought it. I hang around on his front stoop for another twenty minutes or so, and he calls back. "Hey, we're on our way, gonna stop for booze, be there in a half hour or so." Awesome.
So I go for a walk down to a Mobil Station for a soda. As I'm walking past, I see JJ coming out of a nearby liquor store, getting into a car with a few other people, other Quizno's employees. They drive off towards JJ's and I keep walking. I get to his place not two minutes later, and I call Dave to let me in (JJ's phone ran out of minutes). He had dropped JJ off and left to pick up Mike. The doorbell was broken, leaving me with no way to get inside until Dave got back.
Incredibly long story short, I got to JJ's at 10:10, I went inside his building at 11:15.
Poker lasted all of 45 minutes. Once we hit midnight, it officially became Mike's 21st birthday, so all thoughts of card games that don't involve beer were forgotten. We found out that the downstairs neighbors were also having a birthday party, and our poker night quickly devolved to a drinking night.
Earlier that day, I had gone for a run, and disconnected my key from my keychain so I could tie it to my shoe and run with it. At the party, I realized I never put the key back on, and I was locked out. I realized this at 1am, of course, after all my roommates were in bed. I ended up staying an hour and a half later than I wanted, and slept on Mike's couch at Wentworth. I got up way earlier than I wanted so I could go home, wake up Jay, get my computer and bike and get to J-Spot on time, where I am now.
On the plus side, I won the poker game.
