You know who wants to be an art teacher?

I just got back from the Red Sox game. My first game of the season in the last weeks of the season. How perfect. My parents and my brother were here for it too. It was a lot of fun. I haven't seen my brother in a long time. Since Christmas? I dunno, maybe earlier. The point is it was a good time. We went to Boston Beer Works for dinner beforehand and I got three beers.

Also, we were discussing the holidays and I think we settled on a Thanksgiving plan. My uncle lives in Conneticut about twenty minutes from...wait for it... Foxwoods! The casino! Bitchin'. We're all gonna go after dinner, including my aunt and uncle. My mom wants to keep driving down to DC and see my cousin Greg, but my dad wants to go to a Haggis show in Philidelphia. I want to do both.

Sean and Adam made some homemade beer. It tastes terrible.

I'm sorry, Peter. I always loved you.

Yeehaw. Heroes is back! And I don't just mean it's back on tv. I mean it's BACK! with a vengeance! This first episode was everything the second season should have been. Really really great stuff.

Obviously, since I watched Heroes, we didn't finish our D&D session, which sucks, cause I really have a lot of fun doing that. Matt, our DM, had homework or something. We're also not playing this Sunday, which really frees up my afternoon. I got the afternoon of exactly so we could play, and now there's nothing there.

Anyone wanna come visit me on Sunday?

D&D 09/21/08

So every time we play D&D, hilarious things ensue. I'm going to keep track of our exploits here every week. Here is what happened today. For the record, Jay is Chet, Tim is Mortimer, Joe is Jack and I am Tawmi.

After our last adventure, we returned to the town. I renounced my god, the Raven Queen, and reaffirmed my faith in Melora. Chet picked up our new business cards he ordered from the local tavern. In our first mission, Mortimer captured a cobald (a half goat man) and gave him to the local temple. Now, that formerly evil cobald has become a Level 2 Cleric. Nice work, Mortimer. He also got an invitation from some Shadowfeld warriors to travel to Stormkeep, the next town over.

Our party has been invited to the mayor's home for dinner as a celebration of our recent accomplishments. When Chet Doomslayer goes upstairs to put on his Sunday Best, he finds two business men standing in his bedroom at the inn. A law firm named Faerus, Gool and Losturgia, from Stormkeep wants to hire us. They need some adventurers to "tie up some loose ends," i.e. kill people. Chet surprisingly decides to confer with the rest of the group before commiting. They give him a card and tells him to meet them in Stormkeep. Sweet.

So we head to the mayor's home to have a free meal. I create a couple of Alchemist's Fire vials and hide them inside my cloak. We arrive at the mayor's home, and his butler, Jeeves, asks us to leave our weapons at the door. Chet hangs his sword on the wall, and the rest of us put our weapons in the closet. We head into the study for a before dinner drink, where meet a dwarf, drinking a glowing red Dwarven Ale, and offers Chet a shot. Mortimer strikes up a conversation with the shadowy human female in the corner. I explore the rest of the house and find a green Dragonborn (half dragon half man) named Sir Bellos playing pool and I challenge him to a few games of pool. I lose ten gold to him. Chet, now buzzed, wanders into the kitchen and gets yelled at by the Swedish Chef.

When we ultimately sit down for dinner, the mayor introduces himself as Mayor Boddy. After some polite dinner conversation, the cook comes screaming into the dining room. I run to the kitchen door and poke my head around the corner. I see a transparent warrior with a giant sword and half of a face. Chet and I run to get our weapons, while Mortimer and Jack do mystic things that don't help our ensuing battle. Chet uses his new magic power to summon his sword from the closet. Some of the other dinner guests head into the kitchen, while others follow us. This starts the first battle encounter.

Mortimer finds five ghosts in the lounge, and does some damage. Two of the dragonborns follow Mortimer into the lounge and they both attack the ghosts as well, but not before Tim gets attacked.

Chet gets his sword and tries to Magic Missle the first ghost I saw, but misses. One of the other house guests blasts the big ghost and really pisses him off. When the ghost attacks Chet, he counters with a Frost Backlash, then on his turn uses Fire Cyclone to damage three ghosts at once.

By the time I get to my weapons, I hear some noise coming from one of the side rooms that I saw the dwarf and human female enter earlier. I head into that room, and see the dwarf and human fighting some more ghosts. I manage to deal a good amount of damage to one of the ghosts before I get attacked.

Jack explores the library and finds nothing.

At this point, Jay went back to our apartment to watch the football game, and Tim's girlfriend called, so he left. With two of our other players never showing up, Jow and I can't really play by ourselves, so we called it quits for the day. What an awesome finish to the day. We're gonna try again tomorrow night. I hope.
